'BUSHWALKING' is defined as 'hiking or backpacking, an expedition on foot in the bush'. If you'd like to join us - READ ON!
Formed in 2003, we are a social group of people who enjoy quite long bush walks (12-20km, 4-6 hours) in our state reserves and forests in various locations stretching from Jarrahdale to Waroona.
If you are considering membership please make enquires with the secretary as to availability as our membership numbers are capped. If a vacancy exists and you are interested you are welcome to join us for two guest walks before deciding on membership.
As an environmentally aware group the YAHOO Bushwalking Club has a cap on membership numbers with a wait list. This keeps walking numbers to a manageable number and we do not impact too greatly on the bush land we walk on and that safety of walkers is taken into account.
Ordinary members must be over 55 years of age, however persons under 55 may become Associate Members, can attend all walks, but have no voting rights at meetings. Most of our membership centres on the Peel region.
If you decide to walk with us please read both the Walk Details and Gear for Walking Documents (under the Walker Information header) for further detailed information.
Walks are held every Thursday, and have a Walk Leader that is familiar with the walk.
Walks are listed on the Walk Calendar, which details the Walk Leader and their contact number, the walk length, the meeting place, the departure time and a general location for each walk. On winter bushwalks it also lists a walk grade - Easy, Medium or Hard. (See the Walk Details document under the Walker Information header for more info on walk grades)
In summer (December – March) however, we avoid forest areas due to fire risk, and choose generally shorter, easier walks along our coastline, river trails, or suburban parks.
We also enjoy occasional social outings and walk camps.
